Dana Reeves, MA, LMHC, NCC

(She/Her/Hers)

Dana Reeves, MA, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York who has been practicing since 2020 and is currently awaiting receipt of her NYS Diagnostic Privilege License. She graduated from Hofstra University with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. Dana has worked in several private practices, a behavioral and socialization school for children with developmental delays due to environmental factors, and at a PROS program working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness where she was also a clinical supervisor to both limited permit holders and licensed counselors and social workers.

As a therapist Dana follows a person-centered and strengths-based approach to working with clients. She focuses on empowering clients to face and work through their challenges with the use of unconditional positive regard, boundless optimism, empathy, hope, and insight into one’s emotions and life experiences that are impacting behaviors.

As a clinical supervisor, Dana works similarly to empower and support her supervisees. Dana strives to embolden her supervisees to utilize their strengths to aid clients and to build and grow their own self-confidence along with helping her supervisees to find their unique style as a therapist and own it. Dana creates a safe supervision space to explore not only the therapist's client questions, but also their own feelings and experience of providing therapy.

Dana believes it's essential to process your own experience as a new therapist or long existing one in order to provide the best care to your clients. Dana strives to meet her supervisees where they are and she aims to empower them to utilize their skills and strengths to overcome any challenges, whilst growing personally in the ways they want to. Dana is very passionate about helping other therapists to grow into their own as she was profoundly impacted by her past supervisors guidance and wishes to pass this on to others.

Outside of work, Dana enjoys reading, exercising, going for walks in nature, spending time with her family and friends, eating delicious food especially tacos, watching action or romance movies, and helping people in any way she can, whether it be big or small.
