What should a new client know about working with you?
I value the mind-body connection and incorporate an integrative approach when working with clients. I think it is important to address the person as a whole - their mind, body, diet, and community connection. I hope to help clients grow holistically and develop a mindful approach to life. I am a trained yoga teacher and feel that this frames my own perspectives of life and how I work with clients. I also have a multi-cultural background and continue to navigate identity and cultural values. I hope to help clients develop their own understanding of their identities. I take an open, warm, and curious approach - continuing to challenge clients to make the most of their lives.
Process for Working With Clients
It is important for me to get to know my client - I like to do a thorough intake process making sure to cover their upbringing, current situation, identities, cultural background, overall health and goals for therapy. I like to make sure we are both clear on the goals we are working towards to keep us on track and assess for progress along the way. I usually start off with a little more structure to help ground my client and provide a foundation for our relationship to grow. It is important that I form a connection with my client through the process and address what is coming up for them through treatment. As treatment goes on, I find that it becomes more unstructured, existential, and reflective. I try to make space for meaning making processes and helping clients re-integrate into their worlds with purpose and understanding.
